Camel Vests and Cable Cars

Photos by Taylor Jones

The unpredictable weather of San Francisco has forced me to become incredibly good at layering, and this camel vest from Zara is the ultimate layering piece.  When I need a touch of sophistication to an outfit I immediately turn to the camel + black combo because you're always guaranteed to look seemingly put together. I hadn't worn this vest with a skirt/dress yet but I knew that I needed to show off these shoes so I threw on some basic black pieces and tied it all together with the waistcoat.
Recently, I have been shopping at a lot of middle-of-the-road stores; Urban Outfitters, Top Shop, Zara, Aritzia, American Apparel, etc. I've been straying away from designer jeans, and brand name clothing in general because these stores are getting better and better at putting out quality, affordable clothing that is also sophisticated and trendy.  I'm assuming this has a lot to do with the proliferation of social media specifically in the world of fashion. Fashion bloggers and influencers are making the up-and-coming runway looks so accessible that it makes it very easy for these more affordable brands to emulate styles that will be on trend for the next season.  This is truly an amazing thing if you think about it.  Anyways, ultimately what I'm trying to get at is that these shoes are from Urban Outfitters and are under $70! They're comfortable, extremely high quality, and the chunky heel creates a classy yet modern look.  I've seen this exact shoe at high end retailers like Shopbop and Revolve Clothing for $300+ so I was very excited to see this affordable, agreeable alternative at UO.

This Zac Posen bag is one of the most classic pieces in my closet.  I always feel very lady like carrying it; I love when a piece of clothing or an accessory can bring out and highlight a certain an aspect of your personality like that.
