What I Want

High Waisted Swimwear

Photos By Nathaniel Gerdes

Over the past few years swimwear has transitioned from an after thought in fashion, focused primiarily on minimalist designs and functionality, to being viewed as a fashion statement piece. Since the overly tan look has become ridiculously tacky, not to mention very unhealthy, swimwear designs have become less centered around curating the perfect tan lines and more about flattering the female figure. One pieces and high waisted bikinis have been at the center of this trend and I have to say, I love the sophisticated femininity of these vintage inspired styles.

What: 1. American Apparel houndstooth high waisted bottoms (sold out but similar herehere, and here)
2. American apparel balconet bikini top (here, and similar here and here)
3. Ray ban round sunnies (here)

Takeaway: I definitely still have my classic bikinis that I lay out in but experimenting with your swimwear is such a fun and unique way to add an extra element of fashion to your life. I also feel much more confident in high waisted swimsuits because I don't feel as exposed. It's less like I'm wearing a bra and underwear and more like I'm sporting a fashion statement piece. Plus, accessorizing one pieces and high waisted swimsuits is much more interesting, big hats and sunglasses are mandatory and immediately elevate your look.
